The Base on Broadfield offers a variety of services dedicated to serving the Broadfield community, in Leyland. 

 

Welcome to The Base on Broadfield. 

 

We are here at the very heart of the Broadfield estate in Leyland, supporting our community.  Support that the community have identified they want and need.  We are committed to community engagement and proactively responding to the needs of the people that reach out for our support.  Our motto is 'Never promise anything you can't deliver'.

 

The Base

 

At The Base there is a community shop that provides members with access to good quality food, second hand clothing exchange, offering community members access to second hand clothing and household goods.

 

 

 

 

Our Core Services

Community Café – serving free hot food and drinks to our community

 

Drop-in – sessions offering advice, support, signposting or a listening ear to anyone that needs it

 

Chat & Brew – relaxed and chilled sessions for anyone to come in and have a friendly chat over a cuppa

 

Wellbeing Library – choose from a range of self-help books and literature on a variety of well-being topics

 

Women’s Group – a warm, inclusive space for women to come together, socialise and participate in a variety of activities

 

Community Launderette – access to free laundry facilities during Community Centre opening times

 

Music Room – a soundproofed room for community members to produce music, run podcasts or community radio

 

Cookery Courses – a range of courses around eating well on a budget, how to feed a family cheaply

 

We also run many different projects and events throughout the year, including HAF (Holiday Activities and Food), Christmas Smiles, Winter Warmth, Pantomime, Family Fun Days and Community Evenings.

Quality Services - We will continue to deliver high quality support to the community to gain their trust and respect by consistently meeting their needs and never promising what we can’t deliver.

 

Great Place to Work - Our volunteers tell us that they feel valued and love coming to help out at The Base. We are a friendly team who help, support and care about each other. We are Team Base.

 

Looking to the Future – We want to continue to expand our reach within the community, ensuring that every single person that accesses our services receives a warm welcome and is treated with compassion and respect. We will continue to practice a non-judgemental approach and be pro-active in listening, encouraging, nurturing and empowering.

 

Facilities – Rooms and areas at the centre are available for booking at £10  per hour on weekdays, evening and weekends.

The Base on Broadfield Community Garden

 

Our garden is currently open Thursday 11am -3pm and Saturday 10am to 2pm – from Spring 2024 we aim to be open daily. Everyone welcome. We have some amazing plans to turn the garden into a wellbeing space.
