The Base bags £1500

The Base wins top prize from Tesco community fund

The Base Community Centre on Broadfield Estate, Leyland run by Key Unlocking Futures will receive £1500 that will be used to support the one stop community café and shop.  The café is a warm, safe, friendly space for people to come together and chat, access support and have some hot food without having to worry about stretching their already tight budget to pay for it.  It is a place where everyone is made welcome.

The café was started during lockdown and has proved extremely popular with over 140 recorded visits to the café each week and the number is increasing.

Key Unlocking Futures Operations Director Ursula Patten said,

Andrea who manages the community centre and her team of volunteers work so hard in the café and shop to offer a great service to the Broadfield community. We’d like to thank Tesco and the people who voted.  This funding enables The Base team to continue delivering the free community café and during shop days perhaps enhance the offer by providing coffee and cake’’
