Our Response to the National Plan to End Homelessness

The government has announced its National Plan to End Homelessness.

We welcome the government’s renewed focus on tackling homelessness and rough sleeping, particularly the emphasis on prevention, early intervention and collaboration. However, ambition must now be matched with delivery. Without sufficient investment in genuinely affordable supported housing, and clear accountability for local implementation, many young people will continue to face barriers to stability. Rising rents, insecure homes and limited access to social housing remain critical challenges.

At Key Unlocking Futures, we see daily how early, personalised support can prevent crisis and help young people build sustainable futures. Director, Ursula Patten reflects “Every young person deserves stability, not crisis management. The renewed focus on prevention is welcome, but we must now see commitment matched with the resources to deliver real change.”

We stand ready to work alongside government, local authorities, and partners to ensure these commitments translate into real change, so that every young person has access to safe housing, meaningful opportunities, and long-term security.
