The Base Community Centre on Broadfield Estate in Leyland received £1000 from Multipave’s Community Fund.

 

Multipave is a North-West based road surfacing contractor based in Leyland.

 

The Base Community Centre supports individuals and families living in the local area and provides various activities including a weekly community café and one stop shop. The café offers free hot food to the community each week and they can serve over 150 people every Monday.

 

Grants like this are crucial to the sustainability of the centre. With this money they were able to purchase much needed kitchen equipment which would make cooking in the area a little easier with catering for the large numbers who attend the café each week.

 

Andrea Andrews who manages the community centre said,

 

‘This donation means that preparing food in our community café is made a little easier now as we can cater for more people at once with the larger sandwich maker, frying pans and other equipment. We are so grateful to Multipave for supporting our community.’

 

Dan from Multipave presented the cheque to Andrea with Amy Halstead, Operations Manager from Multipave Ltd.  Amy said, 

 

‘’What an amazing place The Base is, and Andrea is just a super woman! It was a pleasure to come down to visit and see our Community Fund go towards such a fantastic charity.

 

When we started the Multipave Community Fund, it was community hubs just like The BASE and charities just like KEY UNLOCKING FUTURES that we wanted to reach and support. Hearing about the lives that you improve, and the strong community you have built, is inspiring. Thank you for letting us be a part of it.’’
