I started my current job almost eight years ago and instantly fell behind with my rent.

Being single and on minimum wage, things became hard straight away and I amassed rent arrears, my rent was £96 per week and I was paying £90 per week for child support out of a wage of approximately £900 per month. I tried to bring this figure down but running a house and replacing 20-year-old items as they broke down meant I owed £1000. Years went by and I still remained single and on minimum wage and this bill was over my head although I was managing to pay my rent.

I was put in touch with Laura around the beginning of lockdown and 3 months later I have no rent arrears and in fact, I'm eleven weeks in advance. She put me in touch with a library charitable trust and a grocery trade charity. The 1st gave me enough to clear my arrears and the 2nd have paid another £900 to my landlord. This means I can pay for some much-needed jobs in the house. I find it hard to ask for help as I have always put others first but Laura took charge of this process and I'm amazed by the results.
