Community Shop

Community Shop

Real stories from our community shop visitors.

Sarah is a single mum with 4 children, she struggles to make ends meet and has previously accessed food banks. Sarah comes to the Community Shop every week as she is reliant on it to top up her weekly shop. She really appreciates the fact that she can choose what she wants, that she can access free fruit and vegetables and also get toiletries and cleaning products which she often has to do without as feeding the kids takes priority.

Margaret is an older lady who lives on her own and her only income is her state pension. She comes to the shop every week and is always keen to try new things and engage with whatever recipe challenge we have to offer. The shop helps her pension go a little further. She also relies on the social interaction side of the shop, she has a chat with the volunteers who always ask her how she is, she feels like she is part of a group that cares. Margaret wants to come to our Women’s Group when we can open up again.
