The support with Key was very different than the support I have had before. Ruth took time to get to know me and build a relationship first, I didn’t feel rushed and it made me feel special.
Then she started to ask me what I want to achieve. This worked much better for me as I don’t like to be asked lots of questions it makes me feel quizzed and I shut down as I worry that I am not going to get the right answer. Ruth helped me to do things for myself and didn’t take over.
We did normal stuff too like going for a walk. By been supported in this way meant I could be honest. With other people like my family or my boyfriend, I was always worried about sharing my thoughts as I was worried about upsetting them or them telling me I didn’t feel like that.
Ruth told me she was proud of me for the progress I was making. This meant a lot to me, it encouraged me to keep going as I hadn’t noticed the changes yet myself. Ruth has helped me to see things differently by talking things through. I have learnt to push myself and can stand on my own two feet. I still often think what Ruth would do!
